Madison County Chief Deputy Sheriff, Major Jeff Connor, has announced his intention to run for the office of Sheriff next fall. Connor will run on the Republican ticket in 2022, bringing with him 35 years of experience as a police officer. Connor has been with the Sheriff’s Department since 2014, and before that served in the Granite City Police Department.
Connor tells the Big Z, running for sheriff is something he’s had in the back of his mind to do if the timing worked out:

Connor has also spent time with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, leading 25 investigations since 1990 and also attended the FBI National Academy. Connor is the first candidate to throw his hat into the ring to run for sheriff after John Lakin announced he would retire when his term ends next year.
