East Alton Wood River High School officials have announced an updated back to school plan. Students will now attend classes under a hybrid model, meaning every other day in person which will allow for better physical distancing between students in classrooms and hallways. Classes begin for students on August 19.
The school board voted Tuesday night to update the back to school plan over concerns that having all students attend at once would not allow for enough space between students and staff under health department guidelines. The hybrid model for East Alton Wood River High means students with the last name starting with A-L will be on campus on Maroon Days, while the rest of the student body will be learning remotely at the same time. On Gold Days, students with the last name starting with M-Z will attend, and the others will be learning remotely. Students who had originally opted to learn under the remote-only plan may change to attend under the hybrid model. Officials also say those living in the same home, but with different last names may also attend together. Anyone with questions or special requests needs to contact the school for additional information or see the school website.
