Pastor, one time police officer and challenger David Goins has beaten 2-term incumbent Brant Walker in the Alton mayor’s race. Goins campaigned on a platform focusing on three priorities: Reversing the trend of population decline; Economic Recovery; and Public Safety.

When asked about his position on the Sunnybrook housing development – an issue of some contention in the latter days of the campaign – he told The Big Z he is supportive of it.
