The man accused of killing two brothers in Rockbridge almost two years ago to the day is heading to prison. 30-year-old Adam J. Gowin pleaded Guilty but Mentally Ill in Greene County Court to First Degree Murder in the stabbing death 55-year-old Ronald Plummer and Second Degree Murder in the stabbing death 54-year-old Billy Plummer. Both men were Gowin’s uncles.
He will serve 25 years on each count, to be served consecutively. The incident was part of a family dispute on September 9, 2018 at a home in the 500 block of State Road in Rockbridge, which is located along Illinois Route 267 just south of the Route 108 intersection near Greenfield. The Guilty but Mentally Ill plea does not alter the amount of time he will spend in prison but will allow him access to mental health services upon his arrival and throughout his incarceration.
