This is Illinois Rail Safety Week, and public safety officials want you to know there are some things you should not do on or around the tracks for your own safety. Railroad tracks are private property, contrary to what some may believe. So, walking or biking along railroad tracks is not only illegal, but also unsafe.
Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers - who's central Illinois community at one time was one of the largest rail hubs in the state of Illinois - says they have a lot of calls for criminal trespass on the rails.
