The United States Army Corps of Engineers, the National Weather Service, and city officials in local river towns are keeping an eye on the rivers. With the heavy snow pack to the north and recent heavy rains, local rivers are expected to rise well out of their banks over the next week or so.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Mark Fuchs tells The Big Z we can expect the rivers to run high for much of the spring.

The Mississippi River at Grafton and Alton is expected to crest a week from Saturday. In Grafton, the crest will inch into moderate flooding, but it does not look like there will be significant impact on the roads in town. In Alton, the impacts are likely going to be minimal.
