Godfrey’s mayor is apologizing for the amount of dust being kicked up in certain neighborhoods following the oil and chipping of neighborhood roads. Not all neighborhoods are impacted, as the village works on a three-year cycle, but of those that have been chipped this year, the reports of excessive dust have been concerning.
In a letter from the mayor’s office, he says oil and chipping usually doesn’t create any problems. But, Mayor Mike McCormick tells The Big Z that has not been the case this year.

He says once the rock has compacted as people drive over it, the dust should subside. He also says the lack of rain has also contributed to the amount of dust. McCormick says this product will not be used for future oil and chip projects.
