One man is dead and another injured following a crash on Highway 267 in Medora Thursday morning. It was apparently the result of a second crash following the initial incident that left one vehicle disabled in the middle of the roadway. 28-year-old Matthew Grizzle of Fidelity died as a result of his injuries.
According to information from the Illinois State Police, a truck driven by 39-year-old Benjamin Ruyle of Medora was sitting sideways on Illinois 267 where it meets Illinois 111 at about 4:37am Thursday after already having been involved in a previous crash. A Kia driven by Grizzle was heading northbound when his car struck the disabled truck. Grizzle died of his injuries after being airlifted from the scene. Ruyle was also airlifted with life-threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for reconstruction and recovery for approximately five hours. The crash remains under investigation.
