It’s take two for a construction project to service the Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery. Beginning early Saturday, Route 3 will be completely closed starting at the Highway 143 intersection from the north up to Hawthorne Avenue in Hartford on the south end. The closure was originally planned for last weekend but was delayed due to the railcar situation.
Crews will be moving a pipeline bridge over the roadway for the refinery. Facility spokesperson Melissa Erker tells the Big Z the new pipe bridge will replace the current 80-year-old pipes.

There will be detour signs in place that will direct drivers through the town of Hartford. Erker says they plan to have Route 3 back open by Monday morning, if not sooner. Some of the local contractors working on the project include Federal Steel, JF Electric, and BrandSafway.
