Numerous sources are reporting the Illinois Supreme Court has suspended a Clay County contempt hearing that would have required Governor JB Pritzker to appear in court Friday. The governor also asked the Court to determine whether he had the authority to issue disaster proclamations and executive orders throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping Clay County Judge Michael McHaney's ruling will be reversed.
The Court denied Pritzker's motion for supervisory order and moved the case to Sangamon County. We’ll have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
