Alton Mayor-elect David Goins will be sworn into office later today.  A public ceremony will be held on the steps of Alton City Hall at 6:30pm with Goins and other members of the City Council and elected city leaders taking their oaths of office.  Goins will be the first African-American mayor of Alton.

Following the ceremony, Goins and the rest of the council and city department heads will move inside for a closed city council meeting.  The meeting is being held via remote due to continued concerns over COVID-19.

Members of the Alton City Council being sworn in today: Brian Campbell, Carolyn MacAfee, Raymond Strebel, Rosetta Brown, Charles Brake, Stephanie Elliott, and Nate Keener.  Cheryl Ingle will be sworn in as the new Alton City Clerk.
