September is National Preparedness Month, and Ameren Illinois has some advice to make sure you are ready if disaster hits. Disasters can come in many forms, like flooding, severe storms, earthquakes, or those of the man-made variety.

Experts say it's a good idea to learn lifesaving skills like CPR and basic first aid, and to involve the whole family in creating an emergency plan. Emergency managers also suggest getting involved with your community's preparedness efforts.
