The Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau is looking for a new president and CEO. Brett Stawar announced he would be leaving the organization for a job in Texas next month. Stawar has been with the local tourism bureau for 16 years, expanding its reach beyond the Riverbend to now include 6 counties in southwestern Illinois.
Stawar will finish his time as President and CEO of the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau on August 13 and will become the new President and CEO of a tourism bureau near Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 19. He has also served on state and regional tourism and business boards and councils. A search committee will be appointed by the Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau Board of Directors to find a replacement for Stawar. An interim CEO will be selected as well. Stawar’s new job will be to lead the Port Aransas/Mustang Island Tourism Bureau & Chamber of Commerce. Stawar will be a guest this morning (Thurs) at 10:30 on Let’s Talk.
