A man who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Jerseyville on Sunday night has been identified. 22-year-old Emmanuel Ross of St. Louis was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in St. Louis from the weekend and reportedly shot himself when police in Jerseyville attempted to make a traffic stop.
Police in St. Louis were searching for Ross in connection with the death of 21-year-old Destiny Davenport earlier on Sunday. Jerseyville Police attempted to make a traffic stop, on the vehicle with Missouri license plates, after learning it may be part of the St. Louis case. Authorities say Ross shot himself while still inside the car and it rolled through an intersection along Spruce Street before stopping. He was later airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis where he died. St. Louis Police are conducting the investigation.
