Charges have been filed against three men in connection with a reported armed robbery in Edwardsville on Saturday. 20-year-old Thomas Gumble, and 19-year-old’s Maurice Leggette, Jr., and Antonio Thigpen Jr., are each charged with two counts of armed robbery after allegedly robbing two people at gunpoint last Saturday.
Edwardsville Police investigated the case and presented evidence to the Madison County State’s Attorney for possible charges. They allege the three men used a handgun and robbed one victim of cash and another of a video game console. In addition to the armed robbery charges, Thigpen was charged with criminal damage to government supported property for reportedly damaging a security camera and sink at the Edwardsville Police Department. Leggette was also charged with two counts of aggravated battery for allegedly punching and kicking two Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies. All three remain in custody.
