An Alton woman could face multiple years in prison after pleading guilty to battering multiple children she was babysitting in October 2017. 34 year old Kristina Solorio-Campbell pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Madison County Court to three counts of aggravated battery.
The charge in a case involved a 4-year old boy that she punched and stomped on his head was originally a Class X felony but in exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors reduced it to a Class 3 felony. The change could mean significantly less time behind bars as a Class X felony provides for a 6-30 year prison sentence, while a Class 3 has a 2-5 year term. The case also includes a guilty plea to Class 3 felonies for punching an 8 year old girl and 5 year old boy. The children were staying with their father at the time at an apartment in the 700 block of Oakwood Estates and Solorio-Campbell was supposed to be caring for three children when the incidents took place. Sentencing will be set at a later date.
