The Wood River City Council has made changes to one business district and created another at its Monday night meeting. One move adds the vacant lot that used to host the Schnucks grocery store and later a Goodwill location to Business District 1, while the second ordinance passed last night creates Business District 4.
Mayor Cheryl Maguire told The Big Z in a previous interview the new district will include property commonly referred to as the 9th Street land.

The land is to the east of the pump station. The city council is also moving forward with plans for the East End Detention Basin project. The council approved a professional engineering agreement for the project with Sheppard, Morgan and Schwaab, and also gave the mayor permission to sigh all required documents for a loan with IEPA associated with the project.
