JoAnn (Powderly) Ashford, 80, died at 11:34 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born on May 9, 1938 in Jerseyville to the late John Albert and Luella Amelia (Phipps) Powderly.
JoAnn graduated with the class of 1956 from Jersey Community High School.
She married Kenneth LaVerne Ashford on October 31, 1959 in Jerseyville and together they were blessed with two children and 53 years of marriage before his death on June 24, 2013.
JoAnn worked for over 25 years at Wal-Mart, starting her career in the Shoe Department followed by various other responsibilities throughout the years.
Surviving are a daughter and son in-law, Karen and Chris Stammer of Alpharetta, GA; two granddaughters, Carmen Cronin of Greencastle, IN and Kathryn "Katie" Cronin of Alpharetta, GA.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Dean Ashford on August 18, 1982; two brothers, Thomas and Clyde Powderly; as well as three sisters, Catherine Powers, Wilma Hughes and Mary Chapman.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to Camp Ondessonk in care of the funeral home.
