William 'Bill' A. Green, age 90, of Alton, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at St. Anthony's Heath Center in Alton.
He was born October 31, 1928, in Mattoon, IL the son of William Henry and Fayma L. (Bence) Green. Bill served his country in the US Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married Ruth Ann Elkins-Schenato in 1988 and she survives.
Bill retired from Walston Air, where he worked in sales. He was a life member of Alton VFW #1308, The American Legion, the Owl's Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose #951.
In addition to his wife, Ruth Ann; he is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Kelly (Steve) MacDonnel of Graham, NC, and Kristin (Robert) McDowell of Wood River; two step-children, Mike and Christy Schenato of Bunker Hill; four grandchildren; a brother, John Green of Godfrey; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Jones of Bethalto; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per his wishes, there will be no services.
