John L Roberts, of Jerseyville, died January 21, 2019 at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born on July 19, 1940 in Jerseyville to Roy and Mary (Ferenbach) Roberts. John was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Owens Illinois as a Mold Repairman, and retired from Laclede Steel as an accountant. He also worked at the Veteran's Administration. John was a member of Jerseyville American Legion Post 492, and Jerseyville Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his sister, Margaret (Al) Ramsey; nephew Timothy (Brandi) Ramsey, nieces Julia Harrelson and Mary (Chris) Federle; 6 great-nephews, 2 great-nieces and 2 great great-nieces.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home. Father Steve Pohlman will officiate.
Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
Military rites will be conducted by Jerseyville American Legion Post 492.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Legion Color Guard.
