Kenneth Bridgewater

Kenneth Dale Bridgewater died November 11, 2019 at his home from complications of kidney and brain cancer. He was born in Greene County on December 13, 1932, the son of Julia (Snyder) and Russell Bridgewater. He attended country schools in Carrollton and Jerseyville areas. After graduating from Jersey Township High School, he served his country in Korea. When he returned he was engaged in farming all his life. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his produce with everyone. He is survived by his wife Carole (Hamilton) Bridgewater and their 3 sons and families Michael (Shari), David (Deanna) of Jerseyville and Dennis (Flora) of Liberty, Mo. His sons blessed him with 5 granddaughters Lauren (Jake) Kelso of Arlington, TX, Ashley of Jerseyville, Ann of St. Louis, Christa (Brian) Dunsing, and Jennifer of Jerseyville. His five great grandchildren are Brynn & Brock Dunsing, and Mackenzie Bridgewater of Jerseyville and Beckett and Roman Kelso of Texas. Also surviving are 3 step grandsons, Shari’s children, Bryan (Laura), Bradley (Tarah), and Blake Davis and step great-granddaughter, Nora. Also his brother and sister-in-law, James and Vickie Hamilton of Carrollton. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Russell (Idella) Bridgewater. Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home is in Charge of Arrangements. Friends may call Sunday, November 17, 2019 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm with a memorial service following at 4:00 pm at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home. A private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jerseyville Salvation Army Food Pantry and OSF Hospice of St. Anthony’s.
