Scott R. Hillmer, 63 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Scott was born on August 2, 1956 in Granite City, Illinois. He was a Master Technician for Ameren Missouri and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 148. Scott was a member of First Baptist Church Maryville and was well known for buying and selling real estate so he could rehab the homes for resale. In his free time Scott enjoyed his days of fishing and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Scott is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Sandra (Batey) Hillmer, whom he married on July 21, 1980; children, Clayton and Dana Hillmer of Holts Summit, Missouri, Jason Hillmer of Granite City, Illinois, Emily and T.J. Gaylord of Maryville, Illinois; grandchildren, Eva Hillmer, Violet Gaylord, Sawyer Gaylord, Lawson Gaylord; his mom, Sharon (Lentz) Hillmer of Granite City, Illinois; brother, Chris and Lisa Hillmer of Granite City, Illinois and numerous other close family members and friends.
Visitation for Scott will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. In celebration of Scott’s life services will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Hufty officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial donations are suggested to Vision of Hope or Maryville Christian School.
