JoAnn Cooper

JoAnn Cooper, age 87, went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1:13 pm at Jerseyville Community Hospital

She was born May 31, 1933 in Twitty, TX, the daughter of M.N. & Mae (Bivins) Polk.  She married Garold 'Gary' Cooper on June 10, 1955 in Shawnee, OK.  He preceded her in death, December 10, 2011.

JoAnn was employed at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens as a sales counselor for over 20 years, retiring in 2000.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jersevyille where she was a Prayer Warrior and involved in mission work, but her biggest passion was her yearly participation with the Shoebox Ministry, which is a part of the Samaritan's Purse through the church.  She loved to visit with people and had a heart for the elderly.  She will be greatly missed

by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger (Connie) Cooper of Omaha, NE; one daughter, Sharon Cooper of Waco, TX; four grandchildren, Brad Cooper, Amy (Rick) Gillis, Carrie (Mike) Margherio and Emily (Jeff) Turnbough and five great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Sydney, Morgan, Drew and Cooper.

Along with her parents and husband, JoAnn is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Shoe Box Ministry through the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville.
