Frances Jean Russell, age 86, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 at Anderson Hospital. She was born on November 15th, 1934 in Edwardsville on the family dairy farm, the daughter of Ferdinand F. and Julia B. (Rohrkaste) Stahlhut. Her ancestors were some of the early settlers of Edwardsville, straight from Germany in the early 1800’s. Frances worked as a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Employment Security for over 26 years. She was a lifelong member of Eden Church and also a member of the Eden Women’s Guild, past member of the Madison Co. Trailblazers Saddle Club in the 60’s & 70’s, and a member of The Hoedowners Square Dance Club of The Wood River Roundhouse. She married her childhood sweetheart of Wanda School, Philip W. Russell on April 23, 1954. He survives. She also is survived by her son, Dr. Gregory W. (Jane) Russell of Chester, IL; her daughter, Julie B. (Terry) Reising of Edwardsville; 4 grandchildren: William (Stacey) Russell, Austen Russell, Dr. Heath (Emily) Reising and Dr. Abby Reising; and 2 great-grandchildren, Armand and Lawson Russell. She is also survived by a sister, Ruth Paskero and sister-in-laws, Sharon Stahlhut and Carol Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul Stahlhut; brother-in-laws, Robert Wood, Gordon Russell, and Robert Paskero, and sister-in-law, Elaine Wood. A memorial service will be held at Eden Church at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 27th, 2020. Due to Covid 19, there will be no reception line. Interim will follow at Valley View Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Eden Church or The American Cancer Society. Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville, is in charge of arrangements.
