
Glen Henry Dalton, 100, of Bethalto, passed away on February 6, 2021, at 2:30 pm at Cedar Hurst in Bethalto.
He was born on July 14, 1920 at his family home in Bethalto, the son of Henry Oscar and Edith (Stolze) Dalton. Glen married Lora Jean Paris, she preceded him in death.
Glen served his country in The United States Navy during WWII.
He was a very active member of the 1st Christian Church of Alton. Glen was a welder pipefitter for Shell for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed gardening and farming, as well as bowling with his bowling league and trap shooting. Glen also enjoyed meeting his friends at the Pancake Ranch and later on at Polly’s Restaurant every morning. In his younger years, he enjoyed duck hunting and training Labradors.
Glen is survived by his children, Eva Diane Smith (Dean) of Dow, IL, Ellen Dyer (Mike) of Bethalto, IL, Joseph Dalton (Kathy) of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Gregory (Jennifer Kovar), and Patrick Smith, Kati Compton (Jacob), Bradley Dyer (Mallory), Lauren Dalton, Blake Dalton (Elisabeth Libby), Jillian Kennon (Zach), and Gabrielle Dalton; along with ten great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Clement, Stanley, Alvin, Calvin, Elmer, and Oscar Dalton; and a sister, Evelyn Dalton Halliday.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 2:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 3pm at the First Christian Church of Alton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Alton.
