On Saturday, May 1, 2021, Melody Rowling (nee McCoy), a loving mother of two children, passed away at age 68.
Melody was born on June 28, 1952 in Grafton, Illinois to Leroy and Glenna (DeSherlia) McCoy. As a single mother, she raised two sons, Steve and Jason.
Melody graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1970 and worked for years as a waitress at Pere Marquette Lodge.
Melody excelled as a grandmother and a caregiver. Her six grandchildren (Samantha, Chopper, Abagail, Nolan, Nicholas, and Jeremy) were her joy and she spent countless hours making them laugh at her endless stories.
Melody, despite suffering from kidney failure, gave excellent care to her Grandma, Irma McCoy, and to her beloved brother, Gary McCoy, both of who preceded her in death. Melody also had room in her heart for dogs, and Ozzy was her constant companion.
Melody was also preceded in death by her father, Leroy, her mother, Glenna, her sister, Tammy Simpson, and two infant siblings, William and Cindy.
She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Steve and Donna and Jason and Kelly, and six grandchildren. Melody is also survived by a great-grandchild, George, who she took particular delight in. Also surviving are two brothers, Donnie Joe and Tony, and one sister, Tina, who flourished as Melody's trusted caregiver.
Per Melody's wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family requests that any donations be made to kidneyfund.org in Melody's name.
Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville has been entrusted with arrangements.
