Barbara Cox

Barbara Anne Cox, 88, of Benld, IL, died at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. 

She was born December 28, 1933, in Granite City, IL to Joseph Olds & Lucille Gobble Olds. 

She married Glen  R. "Buzzy" Cox on November 27, 1954, in Bunker Hill, IL.  He preceded her in death on November 6, 2021. 

Barbara was a member of the Benld United Methodist Church.  She was a mother, grandmother, and beloved matriarch whose joy in life was her role of being a homemaker, raising, nurturing, and loving her children and grandchildren.  She has now gone home to the loving arms of Jesus undoubtedly by whom she was welcomed.  Besides her family and her love of God, her passions were taking pictures of her family and sending pictures to her family, family gatherings, sitting at her table and sending out caring cards to those who needed them not only family but anyone she heard that needed her thoughts, prayers, and love. 

She will be sadly missed but remembered for her Christian faith, character, kindness, sweet voice, laugh, positivity, beauty, strength, warm embraces, and the ability to make everyone feel loved.  She also remembered all her family on their birthdays and at Christmas and made sure all of them received a card.  In each card, she wrote Jesus loves you. 

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Marty) Derganc of Benld, IL, Annette (Bart) Baker of Shipman, IL, Joey Cox of Sawyerville, IL, Barbie Cox of Benld, IL, Glenda (Tim) Margaritis of Staunton, IL, Kathleen Cox of Staunton, IL, Michael Cox of Maryland, Cara (Tim) Cox Bates of Moro, IL, Dale (Tina) Cox of Carlinville, IL, daughters in law, Brandi Cox of Benld, IL, Khara Cox of Alabama, 30 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, sister, Janet (companion, Dudley Tatum) House of Arnold, MO, brother, Michael Olds of Chicago, IL. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, twin sons, Brian & Brady Cox, infant daughter, Sara Beth Cox, grandson, Caleb Cox, daughter in law, JoAnn Cox. 

Visitation will be on Monday, August 8, 2022, from 10 am - 12 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld.  Funeral services will be on Monday, August 8, 2022, at noon at Kravanya Funeral Home, Benld.  Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, IL.  memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Benld United Methodist Church.  Anyone wishing to send an online condolence may do so at www.kravanyafuneral.com.
