M. Jean Adney 74 of Alton, IL., died peacefully at her home on March 19, 2024. Jean was born November 11, 1949, in Alton Illinois to JR and Marie (Nolen) Adney. Jean earned her master’s degree in accounting. She worked at the Wood River/Hartford school districts for many years. Jean loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks Football, and Basketball.She is survived by a brother John Adney and his wife Carol of North Ft. Myers, FL, a sister-in-law Karen Adney of Dardanelle, Arkansas, two nephews and their spouses Thomas (Beth) Adney of Godfrey, Matthew Adney of Knoxville, Arkansas, seven nieces and their spouses, Marie (Mitchel) Wood of El Dorado, Kansas, Cindy (Bob) Schipper of North Ft. Myers, FL, Mary (Eric) Benefiel of Panama City, FL, Jennifer Schelle of St. Louis, MO, Elisabeth (Troy) Handcock of Punta Gorda, FL, Heather (Jeremy) Gunn of Danville, Arkansas, Amanda (Joey) Talley of Dardanelle, Arkansas, Samatha Grayson of Boonville, Arkansas, 19 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Jim Adney, and two fur babies Raven and Jenny.
Her body will be donated to science per her wishes. A Celebration of life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Cat Daddy’s Lounge on 3rd St. in Alton. Please wear your St. Louis Cardinal baseball gear and celebrate Jeans life like she would want.
