
Shirley Ann Shaw, age 93 of Greenville, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Hickory Estates in Greenville with her family by her side.
Shirley, the daughter of Andrew and Symira Mumbower, was born January 9, 1931, in Vandalia, Illinois. She grew up in Woburn, Illinois and attended the one room schoolhouse near Woburn. Shirley attended and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School.
Shirley and Richard Shaw were united in marriage on August 28, 1950. They enjoyed 67 years together before his passing on February 3, 2018. Surviving is her daughter Patty (Bill) Hunter of Greenville, grandchildren Stacy (Scott) Joseph of Bloomington, Indiana, Scott (Trina) Hunter of Dardene Praire, Missouri, and Denise (Mike) Lile of Greenville. Great-Grandmother to: Zoe Joseph, Asher Joseph, Hannah Joseph, Lexy Howard, Kamren Lile, and Laylan Lile, great-great-grandmother of Lainey Howard and also is survived by a niece Betty Suess.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dennis “Denny” Shaw who passed away June 5, 2024, and a sister.
Shirley was a farmer’s wife and worked tirelessly with her husband until they retired at the age of 75. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved traveling in their retirement years. Shirley was a member of the Greenville First Baptist Church.
Memorials in Shirley’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church.
Family funeral services will be held Saturday 2 p.m. at the Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
