
Ronald “Ron” George Gallas, age 74, of Pocahontas, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at his home. Ron was born on May 16, 1950, in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late George Gallas and Willie (Walton) Gallas.
Ron proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. On September 22, 1975, Ron married Paulette Russell, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Ron retired from Conoco Phillips as an operator. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years and woodworking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Ron will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of forty-nine years, Paulette Gallas of Pocahontas, IL; loving daughters, Jessica (Thomas) Dallas of Pocahontas, IL and Tammy (Chris) Bunker-Kester of Collinsville, IL; dear sister, Michelle (Dustin Hamilton) Mills of Phoenix, AZ; proud grandfather to Hannah (Sean) Stratmann, Hayley Bunker, Olivia Dallas and J.J. Dallas; proud great-grandfather to Malcom Holmes; nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.
In celebration of his life, the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Roy Boyer officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
