Howard Hettick

Howard Ray Hettick, 85, passed away at 8:25 PM on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Howard was born on April 28, 1939, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Howard Allen and Nellie Elizabeth (Mudd) Hettick.

On April 7, 1984, Howard married Mary Jane Ventimiglia in Alton, Illinois. Mary Jane preceded him in death on December 6, 2019.

Howard worked as a quality control inspector for Ford Motor Company and was a dedicated and loyal employee. He was also the caretaker for his beloved wife, Mary Jane. In his free time, Howard enjoyed watching TV, snacking, walking, and exercising at the Jerseyville Wellness Center. He was passionate about playing guitar and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Rams, holding season tickets for many years. Howard was a proud member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

He is survived by his son, Randy (Jackie) Hettick; two granddaughters, Lauren Hettick (Steven Sneddon) and Lindsay (Shaun) Damm; five great-grandchildren, Aubree, Isaac, Xavier, Travis, and Ella; sisters, Diana Lockwood;  Sheila (Tony) Ventimiglia, brother, Tom (Gail) Hettick; sister-in-law, Vicki Robison, and his aunt, Josephine "Babe" Ventimiglia.

In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Rae Hettick; his brother-in-law, Bob Lockwood; and his brother-in-law, Carl Robison.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, with Father Steven Janoski as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Alton.

Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
