
Carroll Glen Vinyard, Jr., 72, passed away at 12:03 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
He was born on October 6, 1952, in Wood River, Illinois, to the late Carroll Glen and Gertrude “Gertie” (Preston) Vinyard, Sr. Carroll grew up in Cottage Hills and graduated with the Class of 1970 from Civic Memorial High School.
Carroll dedicated over 40 years of his life to the printing industry, a career he genuinely loved and in which he excelled.
In his younger years, Carroll enjoyed hunting and fishing with family at their cabin in Southern Illinois, creating many cherished memories in the outdoors. Later in life, following his stroke, Carroll remained determined and active, exercising his hands and mind by completing puzzles. He often worked on them with visiting family members, turning many of his completed puzzles into framed gifts that will now serve as treasured mementos.
Carroll is survived by his children, Carroll Glen Vinyard III of Carbondale, Ellis Vinyard of Jerseyville, SeAnn (Brian) Walkington of Jerseyville and DeAnn Bean of East Alton; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren, plus one on the way; four sisters, Linda Linder (Glen Allen) of Brighton, Letha (Tony) Shaw of Maryville, Starla Kay Vinyard (Mickey Finley) of Ft. Myers, Florida and Becky (Tom) Spurgeon of Edwardsville; as well a brother-in-law, Jim Bizaillon of Brighton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Kristian Madison and Keaton Walkington and a sister, Mary Bizaillon.
A Celebration of Carroll’s life will be held at a later date.
Carroll will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love for the outdoors, and his resilience and creativity in the face of challenges. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
