Arthur Crockarell

Arthur “Bernie” Bernard Crockarell, age 91, of Glen Carbon passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Eden Village in Glen Carbon, IL. Bernie was born on May 5, 1933, in Indian Mound, TN, a son of the late Lennie B. Crockarell and Dorothy (Tippit) Crockarell.

Bernie was a Korean War Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 4, 1952, Bernie married Shirley Jean Cleveland, his high school sweetheart and love of his life at Trinity Tabernacle Church in Madison, IL. Shirley passed away on February 7, 2010. Bernie retired from Granite City Steel as an inspector after 43 years of dedicated service. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Collinsville, IL.

Bernie was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing many rounds of golf and bowling with his friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Bernie will be remembered as a sincere Christian man, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bernie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Fisk.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Ann Crockarell of Glen Carbon, IL; siblings, Peggy Slayden of Miami, FL, Jeanette Morlen of Granite City, IL, Baxter (Donna) Crockarell of Ballwin, MO, Lennie D. (Marge) Crockarell of Edwardsville, IL, Patti McDaniel of Edwardsville, IL and William (Linda) Crockarell of Woodland Park, CO; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, and from 10:00 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL.

In celebration of his life, the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, IL, with Pastor Sam Hart officiating. Bernie will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans). Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
