Charleen R. Harnetiaux, age 102 of Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, February 8, 2025, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with Pastor Tim Logue officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials may be made to the Woburn Baptist Church or Vitas Hospice.
Charleen Rose, the daughter of Charles Bernard and Rilla Elsie Munson Pacatte, was born November 3, 1922, in Wood River, Illinois. The family moved to Round Prairie when Charleen was 5 years old. The Pacatte family then moved to Greenville in 1936. Charleen attended the Old Ripley School then graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1940. Charleen worked for DeMoulin Brothers, then worked for Barenholtz Furniture as salesclerk and bookkeeper.
On August 10, 1941, Charleen and Paul Hayward Harnetiaux were united in marriage in St. Louis, Missouri. Charleen and Paul enjoyed 46 years of marriage before his passing on May 28, 1988. They raised their family on the farm north of Greenville. She and Paul were long time members of the Woburn Baptist Church.
Charleen is survived by her two great grandchildren: Kacie M. Gomez of Greenville, Tessa (Joe) Port of Los Angeles, Ca, six great-great grandsons, sisters: Dorothy Ridings Urfer of McHenry, IL, Patricia Kapsar of Melbourne Beach Fl, Sue (Larry) Bultman of Nekoosa, Wi, Christine (Andy) Barber of Merritt Island, Fl. and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charleen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, and sons: Paul Gene “Corky” Harnetiaux, David Michael Harnetiaux , and Mark Alan Harnetiaux. Charleen was one of 11 Pacatte children and is also preceded by brothers: Charles, Donald, Jack, two brothers shortly after birth Keith Anthony, Nicholas Lorenzo, and sister Peggy Gabriel.
Charleen has been a devout Christian, practicing her faith to her sons, many nieces and nephews, many loving friends and other relatives. She was ready to meet her Maker but will be sorely missed by those that loved her.
