Brenda Sue Gilbert, 71, passed away at 3:35 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Jerseyville Community Hospital.
She was born on February 18, 1953, in White Hall, Illinois, one of eleven children born to the late Frederick and Elsie (Swearingin) Gansz Sr.
She married George Gilbert Jr. and together they were the parents of six children. While no parent is perfect, she loved her family in the best way she knew how. While her life was filled with its fair share of ups and downs, she departed this world knowing she was loved. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed the simple things – spending time with a good word search puzzle or playing solitaire, finding comfort in the familiar patterns and small victories of the game.
Surviving are her six children, George Gilbert III of Dexter, Missouri, Gregory Gilbert of Anderson, Indiana, Elizabeth Gilbert of Green Castle, Indiana, John Gilbert and his wife, Cynthia, of Pendergrass, Georgia, Susan Wilfong of Green Castle, Indiana and Shanna Gilbert of Green Castle, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Zimmerman of Kentucky and a brother, Darrell Gansz of Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Wanda Behringer, Judy Beckman and Erma Hall; as well as her brothers, Larry, Gerald, David, Frederick Jr. and Gary Gansz.
Brenda will be laid to rest at the Providence Cemetery near Carrollton.
