
Shirley Leroy Ingles, 95, formerly of Wood River, passed away February 10, 2025 at his residence.
Born December 5, 1929 in Sorento, he was the son of Henry Harrison " Harry" and Rosie Ann (Pollard) Ingles.
A U.S. Army veteran, he had been employed as a Boilermaker for 10 years and an Operator at Shell Oil Refinery for 32 years before retiring.
He married Velda Massey in Wood River. He then later married Hazel Huff on June 6, 1980 in Granite City. She survives.
Surviving also are two sons, Stephen (Debbie) Ingles of Wood River, David Ingles of Godfrey; daughter, Shirley K. Coggin of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Sarena (John) Bunn in Washington state, Selina Ingles and Steven Ingles both of Wood River; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Cress of Hillsboro, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; daughter, Debbie Ingles; six brothers, Clifford Ingles, Francis Ingles, Udell Ingles, Udean Ingles, Donald G. Ingles, and Cecil M. Ingles; and four sisters, Goldie Sathoff, Lora Lucille Varner-Griffen, Dorothy Inloe, and Opal Varner.
Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service at 12 pm, Wednesday, February 19 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Rev. Robert Smith will officiate.
Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento, IL. Military Honors will be presented by Staunton Area Honor Guard.
Memorials are suggested to Gospel Tabernacle in Godfrey.
