Kay Parks (Eccles) Nation of Taylorville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 29, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Fondly know by the staff and friends as “Miss Kay,” she has been a resident there since April 2024.
Kay Bernadine was born at home in Sorento, Illinois on February 1, 1937. She was the daughter of Chuck and Nellie Mae (Tipsword) Parks.
Kay had a kind, fun and loving demeanor toward everyone – including animals. The cancer that took her never had a chance of killing her spirit.
Kay is survived by her brother Keith (Sandra) Parks of Sun City, Arizona, sister Karen (Ron) Schaufelberger of Greenville, multiple nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband James Nation.
In honoring Kay’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. She will be buried alongside her mother and father at a graveside service for the family at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025. A funeral luncheon will follow at the First Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Sunnyside Cemetery, Vitas Hospice, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital on Kay’s behalf.
