
Orren Wayne Wilcox, age 89, longtime resident of Greenville, Ill., passed away April 4, 2025 at HSHS St. Elizabeth Hospital, O’Fallon, Ill.
Born December 27, 1935 to Kenneth and Bethell, nee Pierce, Wilcox, Orren grew up in Guttenberg, Iowa with his siblings James, Gene, and Carol. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1956 and served 8 years as an electronics specialist.
Throughout the years, Orren was employed as a maintenance worker for various companies. He was a country musician, with a talent for various instruments and enjoyed dancing. In his spare time, he built and flew radio-controlled airplanes and built and experimented with electronics. He was a licensed HAM radio operator with Amateur Extra license – call sign AB9WY.
Orren was preceded in death by his parents, and his former wife Rosemarie Wilcox and his subsequent wife S. Arlene Wilcox.
Surviving are his son Michael (Emily) Wilcox of New Johnsonville, Tenn., daughter Roseann (the late Jerry) Martin of Alton; grandchildren Aaron Wilcox, Kenneth Martin, Jennifer Martin, Tabitha Martin, Fawn Martin and Amber Martin; and many great-grandchildren.
Orren generously donated his body to Washington University School of Medicine for educational research.
