
Myrtle Bernice “Binny” Haworth, 94, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born on August 11, 1930, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of William and Myrtle (Kerkoff) Phillips.
Binny first married Dale Schulte, who preceded her in death. She later married Carl Haworth, who also preceded her in death.
A graduate of Alton High School, Binny devoted her life to raising her two daughters as a loving and dedicated stay-at-home mother.
She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto and was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit. Family was the center of her world-she cherished every moment spent with them. Binny found joy in the outdoors and had a deep love for fishing, mushroom hunting, and gardening. She especially adored flowers and took great pride in her beautiful gardens. She was a wonderful homemaker and had a sweet tooth that brought a smile to those around her.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Bob) Lack of Shipman, IL; three grandchildren, Kevin Angel of Alton, IL, Jeff (Alicia) Gihring of Edwardsville, IL, and Melanie Dubach of Alton; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Rowan; and one brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Ann) Phillips of Alton, IL.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Binny was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia L. Gihring; four brothers, Bill, Bob, Ed, and Earl Phillips; and four sisters, Kathreen Sparks, Lucille Johnson, Rosie Beem, and Margie Colburn.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Brandon Metcalf officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
