
Ola Mae (Whorl) Lovell, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at her home.
Born Sept. 21, 1939, in Alton, she was a daughter of Amos and Jessie (Warren) Whorl.
She married Russell L. Lovell, Sr. July 3, 1965, in Alton. He passed away on May 14, 2008.
Ola worked as a certified nursing assistant for Alton Memorial and St. Joseph Hospitals for many years.
A kind, loving and caring angel on earth, she selflessly took care of all her siblings when they were ill. Ola loved playing games, especially Yahtzee. She also enjoyed travelling and attending concerts. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Michael) Taylor of Alton; son Christopher Lovell of Winona, MO; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Joyce Whorl, Ann Siler, Judith Gill, Linda Levy, Marcella Standefer, Thomas Whorl and Gerald Whorl.
The family will hold a memorial visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 am, Saturday April 26, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. Inurnment will take place at noon, Monday, April 28, 2025 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorial donations in Ola’s name may be made to the 5 A’s animal shelter.
