Lavern “Vern” Paul Kinder, 87, died at 3:03 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Evelyn’s House in St. Louis, MO.
Born August 13, 1937 in Golden Eagle, IL, he was the son of Paul L. and Lucinda H. (Lesseg) Kinder. Vern served in the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. He retired as Captain from the Alton Fire Department after 25 years of service.
On September 1, 1962 he married the love of his life, Judith A. Schobernd by the Monsignor James Suddes. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Brenda LeMaire (Dr. Scott) of Danville, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Sarah Kinder, Craig Kinder (Katie), Emily LeMaire, and James LeMaire, two great grandchildren, Theo Kinder and Cooper Kinder, several nieces and nephews and his dog, Buddy.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Kinder, a brother, Glen Kinder, a sister, Evelyn Sherman and his dog, Benji.
All services will be private. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
