Patricia Warlene Loy, 80, passed away at 8:20 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born in Hickman, Kentucky on July 26, 1944, one of four children born to the late Milbern E. and Opal L. (Ferguson) Eakes. Raised in Jerseyville, she graduated with the Class of 1962 and quickly began a life marked by compassion, purpose, and care for others—values she carried into everything she did.
She devoted over 30 years as a Unit Clerk at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton, where her gentle spirit and calming presence made her a favorite among patients and colleagues alike. Her work was not just a job—it was a reflection of who she was: someone who lived to make life better for others.
Her truest joy, though, was her family. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose love knew no bounds. Her grandchildren, Kristopher and Stephanie, and her great-grandchildren, Chanler and Crew, were the lights of her life, and she carried them in her heart every moment of every day.
In her younger years, she loved dancing—often at the old bowling alley—where she made memories that brought her joy for decades. And even in her final chapter, while residing at Jerseyville Manor, her instinct to care for others never faded. She was often found lending a hand, offering a kind word, or simply being present for those around her.
Surviving are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Kristi Steehlinger of Jerseyville, and Tonya and John Roberts of Godfrey; a granddaughter, Stephanie Hoefert and her husband Chris of Godfrey; and two cherished great-grandchildren, Chanler and Crew. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelia and Don Sevier of Alton, and Belinda and Rick Woolsey of Jerseyville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kristopher Steehlinger on May 29, 2022; and her brother, Raymond Eakes.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Brent Meyer will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the Activity Department at Jerseyville Manor in honor of the kindness she so freely gave during her time there.
Patricia lived simply, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of grace, care, and quiet strength. She will be missed more than words can express.
