Machelle I. Hawkins, 76, of East Alton, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Springfield, IL, on September 23, 1948. Machelle was married to Lloyd Dale Batton, who preceded her in death.
Machelle was a 1968 graduate of Wood River High School. She was the owner and operator of Mickey's Interiors. Machelle was an avid dart player and enjoyed tending to her plants, gardens, and flowers, and loved wind chimes. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Carla Klaustermeier of Bethalto; her siblings, Michael (Linda) Hawkins of Godfrey, Ralph Hawkins of Wood River, Laura Mann of Wood River, and Carol Aarons of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Zachary (Rachel) Klaustermeier, Kaylee Klaustermeier, Keaton (Caleb) Black, and Cole Klaustermeier; two great-grandchildren, Addaline and Tatum; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Dale, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Klaustermeier.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cottage Hills VFW located at 121 S. Williams Street, Cottage Hills, IL.
Inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with final wishes.
