Cheryl A. Crause, 79, of Bethalto, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 4:39 pm, at Evelyn's House in Creve Couer, Missouri.
She was born in Wood River on April 27, 1946, the daughter of Edward and Virginia (Deist) Plegge. Cheryl married David Crause on January 16, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. He survives.
After graduating from Civic Memorial High School, Cheryl worked in the Bethalto School District and Zion Lutheran School as a teacher's aide for 23 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and 4H Club. Cheryl was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan. She was a Dispatcher for the Senior Bus in Bethalto. Cheryl enjoyed traveling with her friends and family any chance she had. She was also the owner of Cheryl's Candy Corner for over 30 years.
Along with her husband, David, she is survived by daughter, Candace Crause (Kristy Herman) of Champaign, IL; granddaughter, Paige Crause (Dalton Kouchnerkavich) of Bethalto; a brother, Dale (Debbie) Plegge of St. Charles; nieces and nephews, Marc Plegge of St. Charles, Kelly (Larry) Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO, Mike (Kathy) Slattery of Canyon City, CO, and Ali Slattery of Colorado Springs, CO; and a sister-in-law, Brenda (Ron) Campbell of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Scott Crause.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11 am, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Pastor Kale Hanson, Pastor Brandon Metcalf, and Pastor Willard Meyer will officiate.
Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran School and/or the Susan B. Komen for the Cure.
