
Catherine Denise “Cathy” Miller, (neé, Howard), 72, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Born October 6, 1952, in Alton, Illinois, she was the beloved daughter of the late Paul V. and Bettie J. (Porter) Howard.
On July 5, 1974, in Granite City, Illinois, Cathy married the love of her life, Eugene L. “Larry” Miller, Jr. Together, they shared over 50 beautiful years of marriage—a lasting testament to their deep devotion and enduring love.
Cathy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Granite City, Illinois. Her creative spirit found expression through her passion for cross-stitching, where she crafted intricate masterpieces that spoke of patience, care, and artistic brilliance. As a proud member of the St. Louis Stitchers, she found kinship and joy among fellow artisans. Cathy also served as a model stitcher for Tracy Horner of Ink Circles, contributing her talents to inspiring designs. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching golf, and a fan of NASCAR racing. She loved the serenity of trips to the beach and sharing quality time with her family and friends. Her memory will remain etched in every stitch, every smile, and every story. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, artistic soul, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched.
Cathy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Paul and Bettie Howard as well as her mother and father-in-law, Alma Laverne Miller and Eugene L. Miller Sr.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Eugene Lawrence “Larry” Miller, Jr., of Edwardsville, Illinois; her daughter, Tonya (Amos) LaNear, of Granite City, Illinois; her sister, Cynthia Strain, of Maryville, Illinois; her brothers-in-law, David Miller and James (Mary) Miller; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Edwards; her nieces and nephews, Amanda (Tim) Dugan, Ashley (Andy) Fleming, Angela Miller, Gina Miller, and Christopher Miller; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, Illinois with Pastor John Walter officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
