Donald Wayne Blasa, 65, died on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Mercy South Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.
He was born on November 1, 1959, and was the son of David Blasa and June (Chambers) Gerson. Donnie proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying with him a strong sense of duty, discipline, and loyalty that showed in the way he lived his life.
He went on to build a career in the construction field, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady hands. But beyond the job, Donnie was the kind of guy who could turn any ordinary day into something memorable. If he showed up, you knew you were in for a good time — likely with a cold Stag beer nearby.
He found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. He loved fishing, especially when it meant being surrounded by family or friends. Horseshoes and pool were two of his favorite pastimes, and he never missed a chance to gather with the people he cared about most.
Donnie’s presence was easy to feel and hard to forget. He brought laughter, loyalty, and a certain spark that made everything just a little better when he was around.
Surviving are two sisters, Peggy Titus of Medora and Mary Etta Kronable of Jerseyville; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Karen Blasa of Medora; along with many nieces and nephews, and countless friends he made over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Blasa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville has been entrusted with arrangements.
