
Paul Lutz, age 90 of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in Noffsinger Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home. The Mulberry Grove Fire Department will do an honor walk thru to honor Paul’s over 40 years of service. Memorials may be made to the Mulberry Grove Fire Department or Bond County Hospice.
Paul Edwin, the son of John Edgar and Esther Lorraine (Branham) Lutz, was born October 31, 1934, in Bond County. Paul attended the local schools growing up and graduated from Greenville High School with the Class of 1952. Paul and LuluBelle Goodin were married in Greenville on December 13, 1957. They enjoyed 65 years together, LuluBelle passed away March 29, 2023.
Paul served our country in the United States Army from 1956-1960. He was stationed for a time over in Germany and worked on intelligence for the Army. He was honorably discharged after his faithful service.
He was a member of the Mulberry Grove Fire Department, serving over 40 years and was the treasurer for many of those years. Paul also worked as a correctional officer, retired Sergeant from the Bond County Jail. Paul also served Mulberry Grove as Mayor for many terms and was on the Mulberry Grove Village Board for many years. He and LuluBelle were members of the Mulberry Grove Church of Christ. He also was the treasurer of the church.
He is survived by children Paula Jo Atkinson, Robert Edwin “Bob” Lutz (Cynthia), and Daniel Paul Lutz.
Loving grandfather to: Derek Paul Atkinson (Samantha Hardin), Brandon Michael (Heidi) Atkinson, Robert Thomas “Robbie” (Sheila) Lutz, Christian “Christy” (Nick) Zeller, Amanda (Luke) Hachmeister, Chelsey Lynn Lutz, Nathan Daniel Lutz, and Ian Crothers (Courtney).
Great-Grandfather to Ian, Karly, Colin, Dylan, Gavin, Braden, Millie, Laurence, Theo, and Grace Belle.
4 Great-Great Grandchildren: Kohen Lutz, Braylyn, Kaeson and Kolten Cruthers.
