Marjorie Ann “Margie” Shambro, 71, of Alton, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital.
She was born August 15, 1953, in Granite City, Illinois, a daughter of the late Clifford and Velma (Bagi) Shambro.
Margie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and enjoyed many years with the Special Olympics. She loved living at the Alton Bluff Estate in Alton for over 20 years. She loved being with family and friends and had a beautiful outgoing personality and enjoyed talking to everyone.
She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ignatius and Anne Shambro of Orlando, Florida and John and Paula Shambro of Continental, Ohio; a sister, Sr. Mary Zachary of Kenosha, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bob” Shambro Sr.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City at 12:00 noon on Monday with Father Christopher Uhl as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
