Mary A. Beard, 93, passed away on April 21, 2026 in Godfrey, IL.
Mary was born on December 28, 1932 in Alton, IL. to George and Carrie (Johnson) Gerbig.
She married John “Jack” Beard on July 2, 1949 at 1st Methodist Church of Godfrey. He preceded her in death in October 22, 2023.
Mary enjoyed gardening and an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Beard of Godfrey, IL, Patti Christian of Alton, IL, and Sharon Beard of Godfrey, IL; grandchildren, Robert (Kathy) Beard, James (Vicki) Beard, Carrie Beard, Paul Rogers, and Sarah (Steven) Lawrence; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; son, Robert Beard; son-in-law, Jack Christian; siblings, Arthur (Jayne) Gerbig, George (Ethel) Gerbig, Evelyn (Cecil) McKinney, Julia Gerbig, Harry Gerbig, and Robert (Linda) Gerbig.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 9:00 am.
Memorials are suggested to the Dementia Society of America.
