In Loving Memory of Adam Range
1986-2026
It is with heartfelt sadness, the family of Adam Joseph Range, 39, announces that Adam passed away on June 21st, due to a cardiac event. Adam’s family was blessed to be by his side at the time of his passing.
Adam was born in Belleville, Illinois, on August 27th of 1986, to mother Kathy Scoggins-Range and father James Range. Adam leaves behind his mother, father, brother Jordan Range, and his two adoring nieces Reagan & Kennedy Range. In addition Adam is survived by multiple loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Adam graduated from Jersey Community High School, Jerseyville, Illinois, in 2005. In the summer of 2005 Adam suffered a spinal cord injury, leaving him dependent on a wheelchair. Adam triumphed over his injury and lived independently against the prediction of many doctors. He was an example to others with his injury of what could be accomplished. Adam received his associate degree from Trinity Valley Community College, Athens, Texas, in 2010. He went on to achieve his bachelor’s degree in social work from Texas A&M University, Commerce, Texas, in 2011. Adam excelled academically and was included on the Dean’s list. Adam followed this by completing an internship at Terrell State Mental Hospital, where he touched many lives and had many stories to share.
Adam was deeply passionate about fast cars, motorcycles, music and sports. In high school he participated and excelled in track, soccer, and hockey, obtaining varsity in all. If Adam was not enjoying a sporting activity you could find him customizing his honda prelude or riding fast on his cbr600 motorcycle. Adam grew up a member of the United Methodist Church where he actively participated in services and yearly church camps.
Adam will be remembered for his passion to live life to the fullest! He never met a stranger, making friends with all those he’d meet. Adam was known as a protector of his friends and family. His memory and spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and all those who knew him. After Adam's injury, his famous words were “when I arrive in heaven the first thing I want to do is run in the grass” and we know our Adam is running this very moment!
A visitation to honor Adam’s life will take place on Thursday, July 2nd, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 IL-109, Jerseyville, Illinois. A funeral service will be held the following morning, July 3rd, at 10:00am at the same location. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 801 E Spruce St, Jerseyville, Illinois.
The family invites you to share your memories of Adam at a reception at Faith Fellowship Church, 4719 Seminary Road, Alton, Illinois immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Adam may be made to the Terrell State Hospital Volunteer Services Council, where Adam had a passion for his patients.
